Guided Mushroom Foraging Experience

Join us for a captivating journey into the world of edible wild mushrooms with Jared Rabuck, a certified mushroom forager and a dedicated member of the board of directors for the Brigade of Light. Jared brings years of expertise in mushroom identification and foraging, having certifications to forage and sell multiple species in nine different states. This weekly guided experience will immerse you in the pristine conservation forest lands at Terra Nova Center, offering an enriching morning filled with nature and knowledge.

Educational Foray: Learn to identify and consciously harvest edible mushrooms from the diverse habitats surrounding Terra Nova Center.

Expert Guidance: Jared will share invaluable tips on proper storage, preparation, and cooking of the mushrooms you gather.

Nature Connection: Spend grounding time in nature, enhancing your foraging skills and appreciating the beauty of Western NC.

What to Bring:

A basket or mesh bag for collecting mushrooms

Appropriate footwear (expect up to a 4-mile walk)

Water and a light snack

Rain gear or sun protection, depending on the weather

Where: Terra Nova Center, 33 Terra Nova Lane (check-in at Harmony Cottage, parking in the campground parking lot across the road from the main campus)

Suggested Donation: $30 (to keep offerings free for all regardless of ability to pay)
